Arthur Slater's only game for Essendon was the Round 17 loss to Geelong in 1910. He joined Melbourne in 1911 but played no senior games.
He worked as a clerk for the British Imperial Oil Company (later Shell) and re-joined the company after the War. He rose to become the Australian Operations Manager.
During World War I, he served at Gallipoli and on the Western Front, was wounded and ended the war as a lieutenant.
He died on 19th November, 1972.
