Sid Silk came to the Essendon Seconds from Essendon United in 1939, and started on the wing before graduating to the back line. He was often used as a tagger.
He made his debut in the 1941 preliminary final but was not selected in the losing Grand Final team.
He played 15 games between 1941 and 1944 and was reserve in the 1942 premiership team. He was also a member of the Seconds' premiership team in 1941.
After leaving Essendon, he went to Brunswick from late 1945 to 1948. He then became an Association umpire in 1950 and 1951, before spending a season playing with Pascoe Vale in 1952.
He retired a number of years ago as general manager of a small arms factory at Lithgow in New South Wales.
Sid Silk died on 26th June, 2004.
