Les Rogers was a wingman from Yarraville. He played three games in Rounds 5, 6 and 7 in 1915.
He enlisted in the AIF in July 1915 and served in France in the 23rd Battalion. He was Mentioned in Despatches but was killed in action on 4th August, 1916, at Pozieres. He was only 20 years old.
He is buried in the Serre Road Cemetery near Beaumont Hamel, France.
Rogers' real name was Collins but he used the name Rogers when his mother re-married after the death of his father. His two step-brothers were also killed in action.
