RICHARDSON, Steve

Steve Richardson was a blond half-forward and wingman who came to Essendon from Mayne in Queensland. He was originally from Perth but moved to NSW then Queensland after he joined the Army.

His only senior game for Essendon was as interchange in a Round 20 win over Melbourne in 1983, in which he kicked his two goals.

He was a determined player but he couldn't cement a place in the strong teams of that time. He was a member of the Reserves premiership side in 1983 and won the Reserves Most Consistent Player award.

Richardson was cleared to Swan Districts in Western Australia in 1984 and played in their premiership that year. He played for Western Australia in 1985. He joined Norwood in 1987 before moving to East Perth in 1990 where he played 41 games. He was back at Swan Districts in 1993, playing one final season and taking his tally of games there to 92.

His twin brother, Michael, also played for Essendon.
