Basil Nehill was a rover who came to Essendon from South Ballarat. He had previously played 13 games with St Kilda in 1912.
He then played two games for Essendon in early 1914 before being cleared to Geelong later in the year. He didn't play a senior game with Geelong.
He enlisted in the AIF on the 9th February, 1916, and was assigned to the 37th Battalion. He served in France and England and was finally discharged in January 1919.
Nehill died on 5th March, 1942.
