Norm McCleary came from Watchupga.
His only two games for Essendon were in Rounds 15 and 18, 1933, for losses to Carlton when he kicked two goals, and a loss to Hawthorn when he kicked one goal.
He enlisted in the Army on 14th March 1941 in Burnie, giving his occupation as farmer. He spent time in New Guinea, finally being discharged on 11th February 1946.
McCleary died on 21st July, 2000.
