Fred Lynch was a half-back flanker who played six games on permits from Coragulac in early 1956. He was a farmer who could not get sufficient time to train or play so he returned home to his farm. According to the Club's Annual Report "it was a bitter blow to the Club as he was developing into a very dashing and safe member of the team and the team had a very meagre supply of good half-back flankers".
He then played with Colac until 1958 before returning to Coragulac from 1959 to 1963. He won the Maskell Medal as Best and Fairest in the Hampden League in 1961. He later became chairman of selectors at Colac and coached junior teams.
Lynch coached Alvie in 1986 and 1987.
His son, Paul, played 62 games for Geelong (1993-2000).
