Alf King was a half-forward from Melbourne Grammar and Brunswick Amateurs.

He played five games for Essendon in 1961 and a further eight in 1962 before injuring his knee in Round 12, 1962.

King transferred to Carlton in 1963 where he played in the Reserves before again succumbing to knee problems.

He later became a leading Victorian bookmaker.
