Player Profile

Bernie Jones was a ruckman who came from Hawthorn where he played 58 games between 1973 and 1976. He was a member of their premiership side in 1976. Prior to this, he had been with De La Salle College.

He was a strong mark and, although not the most skilled player, he always contested hard for the ball.

Jones returned to Hawthorn mid-season in 1978 and had the unusual distinction of playing in successive Reserves games on the Queen's Birthday weekend, first for Essendon and then for Hawthorn.

He played a further eight games for Hawthorn before retiring at the end of 1980.
