Brian Coleman was a half-back from Cobden. He played 10 games in 1952 and 1953 and seven of those were as reserve.

Although he shared the same name and played at the same time as the great John Coleman, they were not related.

Seven of his ten games were as a reserve and he left at the end of 1953. He joined Maryborough in the Ballarat Football League in 1954 and won the League's best and fairest award in 1961.

He died aged only 34 on 9th December, 1966, after an accident at a gymnasium. A police constable in Victoria Police, he had attempted a somersault from a spring board and received cervical injuries when he landed badly. He died on the way to the hospital.
