Bill Coffey made his Essendon debut in Round 1, 1918, in an away loss to Richmond. It was to be his only League appearance.
He later became a VFL umpire and officiated at 33 games between 1926 and 1929, including the 1927 Second semi-final.
Coffey died in 1962.
