Ian Burt was a follower who came from Redan where he had played since 1956 and played four games on permits in early 1959.
He then returned home to Redan where he played until 1960 before becoming captain-coach of Cressy in 1961 and of Newlyn in 1962 where he coached both sides to premierships.
Burt then joined Kyneton from 1963 to 1965. While there he won the award for Best and Fairest in the Bendigo League in 1964 and represented that league in 1963 and 1964. He went on to captain-coach Daylesford in 1966 and 1967.
His daughter, Simone Wilkie, served in the Australian Army for 35 years, finally retiring as a major-general. She was appointed to the AFL Commission in 2015.
