Bruce Brown came from Melbourne where he played six games in 1971. He won the League Reserves Gardiner Medal in 1971 while at Melbourne.

He played one game with Essendon as a reserve in late 1972.

He then joined Port Melbourne in 1973 and 1974 before playing with Brunswick for many years. He finished up as coach of their Reserves.

Like team-mate, Geoff Blethyn, Brown also played in glasses.

Brown later moved to Hong Kong. His father, Alf, was chief football writer for The Herald for many years.
