Player Profile

Stan Booth was a fast moving, elusive rover who usually rested on a half-forward flank.

He came up through the Thirds after coming from Moonee Imperials and was equal second top goalkicker in 1954 and third top in 1956 and 1957.

Booth was involved in a controversial incident at Essendon in 1957 when he was penalised for deliberately putting the ball out of bounds with seconds to go against Melbourne. Essendon lost the game when a goal was scored from the free. He was on the half-forward flank in the losing Grand Final team in that year.

He was also a member of the Seconds premiership side in 1952.

After leaving Essendon, Booth became captain-coach of Sandy Bay in Tasmania from 1960 to 1962 and later coached Aberfeldie Junior sides.

He became a League steward in 1975.

Booth died on 30th August, 2007.
