Andrew Bomford was selected by Essendon with pick 25 in the 1996 National Draft, using one of the compensation picks the Club received for losing Gavin Wanganeen to Port Adelaide.
He played 79 games in the Reserves for Sydney before being picked up by Essendon. He played his first game against North Melbourne at the MCG in 1997.
In 1998 he played 10 games and kicked three goals for the season.
Bomford was traded back to Sydney in 1999, and played 15 games for the Swans from 1999-2000.
He was back in red and black after leaving Sydney when he joined the North Shore Bombers in 2001 and played in their premiership win that year, before retiring.
He enjoyed more success when he played with the Wandsworth Demons in the British Australian Rules Football League in London, winning the club's Best and Fairest award in their 2003 premiership year.
