Geoff Barber was a defender who joined the Seconds from Kilmore in 1958 and played five senior games in 1959 and 1960.
After leaving Essendon he became captain-coach at Yarragon from 1961 to 1963 and a player there in 1964. He captain-coached the West Gippsland League side in 1963 and won the Best and Fairest award in that League in 1964.
Barber then went to Rochester in 1965 and 1966 and to Bamawm from 1967 to 1972. He won the award for Best and Fairest in the Echuca League in 1967.
