Allan Hird was a centreman who came from Stawell and played four games in 1966 and 1967.
In 1968, Hird joined Heidelberg before moving to Canberra where he became captain-coach of Eastlake from 1969 to 1971 and then the Australian National University team.
He is the son of Allan T. Hird, and the father of champion James Hird.
