Bill Henry came to Essendon from Hawthorn where he played eight games in 1926 and 1927. Prior to that he played two games with Collingwood in 1925 and before that he had played with Hawthorn (VFA) between 1920 and 1924.

He played nine games in 1928 and started well, kicking four goals in his first game.

After leaving Essendon, Henry went to Yarraville in 1929 and then Oakleigh in 1930.

He died on 19th August, 1974.
