Jim Heenan was a tough back pocket from Essendon All Blacks. He started conspicuously, winning Essendon Best First Year Player award in 1952. He also polled the second most Brownlow Medal votes at Essendon that year. He had also won the Seconds Best and Fairest award in 1951.
His career was interrupted when he was injured against St Kilda in Round 3, 1953, and missed the rest of the year.
He was a reserve in the losing 1957 Grand Final side.
Heenan joined North Melbourne in 1958 but played no senior games before retiring.
His father, Jim W., played eight games with North Melbourne in 1930.
Jim Heenan died on 29th October, 1999.
