Charlie Milburn was a speedy wingman who came to Essendon from Stawell. Prior to that he was with Collingwood where he played 60 games from 1923 to 1927. He was a member of the Magpies 1927 premiership team. He had earlier played with Preston from 1918 to 1922.
He was Australian sprint champion from 1921 to 1923.
Milburn was in the twilight of his career when he joined Essendon and he only played nine games in 1929.
He then played with East St Kilda in 1930 and 1931.
His son, Pat, played six games for Collingwood in 1953.
Charlie Milburn died on 14th November, 1953, while preparing to take strike in a game of country cricket at Mooroopna. He was only 54 years old.
