Julian Kirzner was recruited from the Western Jets. He was a highflyer who could take a very good mark.
His only game for Essendon was against Carlton in Round 22 in which he kicked a goal in an 18 point win.
Kirzner was delisted at the start of 1996 and was added to Carlton's supplementary list before being selected by North Melbourne in the 1997 Rookie Draft. After showing some consistent form he was placed onto North's senior list but only managed three games. He was put on the Rookie list again in 1998 but played no more senior games.
He then played for VFL club North Ballarat in 1999 before knee issues forced his retirement. He was lured back to football in 2002 to play for VFL club Coburg.
