Dear Sir,
As President of the Essendon Football Club Past Players and Officials Association, I would like to express, on behalf of all of our members, total support for our great club and the actions being taken by the club to help solve the unfortunate situation it is facing. Obviously the club is experiencing some difficult times, however it should be remembered that the club is always bigger than any individual. It has survived ups and downs over the 140 years of its existence and has been able to maintain a strong presence as one of the leading clubs on and off the field in the VFL/AFL competitions, establishing a vast and passionate supporter base over that period of time and at the same time producing many outstanding players, coaches and officials.
The club is in fact made up of its members and the members over many eras have helped to mould the club into the great club that it now is. Your continued support will help to maintain the clubs standing within the competition and although the club has been somewhat tarnished with unproven allegations, our Association is confident that the current players will lift to a level that will be admired by our followers given the pressures that have been placed upon them.
Our Association would like to encourage all supporters of the club to continue to support the club by maintaining or becoming a member and by attending games during the season. Let’s show the competition that we are “fair dinkum” supporters who will follow the club through thick and thin and ensure that the club remains a strong and vital part of the football scene into the future.
Yours sincerely
Barry Capuano
President EFCPP&OA
